The iconic Paramount Building–most recently a pawn shop–now sits vacant on Peebles Corner in Walnut Hills. Future Blooms, a program of Keep Cincinnati Beautiful, recently gathered volunteers one Friday afternoon to board up windows at the Paramount and paint over them with realistic scenescapes. This reduced blight and beautified the neighborhood. The effort at the Paramount won’t save the building by itself, but reminds developers and neighbors of the grandeur and beauty of Walnut Hills.
You’ve seen their work all over town, but the Paramount presented particular challenges that they needed help with. Katie Ferncez and Claire Bryson are program managers of Future Blooms. They needed funds from Fuel to cover professional boarding of the windows.
We are so excited to FINALLY paint this beautiful building, a cornerstone of Walnut Hills. A grant from FUEL Cincinnati has allowed us to work with Building Value to board the remaining ground floor windows of the building.
